Straight out of Hong Kong. I will hopefully be able to move the DCX to the bench for some speaker projects.

I am using this with the Advanced 2.0 plug-in. One feature it has that the DCX lacks is a true HP filter option. The documentation and how-to guides are top notch also.

All said and done it was $175 shipped.

Please be sure to provide more in-depth feedback. GranteedEv did a nice job with his writeup but it is always nice to get additional opinions.

I'll be firing mine up soon. The speakers are still in construction for the moment.

I can provide some preliminary feedback in regards to comparison of my DCX. It's an issue of trade offs.

The DCX ultimately is going to be a more flexible unit. For starters you can't sum input1 across all outputs on the MiniDSP. The actual flow and routing functions are the same in approach but ultimately MiniDSP not as route-able.

The DCX has the capability to store and easily recall presets. I had four:

HT, Music, House Curve-HT, House Curve-Music. The MiniDSP you have to have a computer connected.

In short the MiniDSP is PERFECT for HT Use. You can import REW configs. That is PRICELESS. The DCX is going to my bench for an upcoming 3 way active design that I want to do from scratch. Each one will be able to play to their relative strengths.

I am just waiting for the MiniDSP to start showing up in some ID speaker companies sub woofer offerings. You should be able to tweak a multiple sub configuration in 30 minutes with REW and the MiniDSP. My local AV firm has never even heard of either.

What exactly do you mean by this?

You're probably right... you'd probably need the 4-way advanced plugin to do that.

Still getting used to this device. Not sure about the plug in architecture and where the 2 way advance is better then the 2.1 or 4 way.

Should probably just ordered the 4 way advanced.

4-way advanced won't let you do a speaker pair unless you have two miniDSPs (since there are only four outputs, a pair of 4-way speakers requires 8 outputs)

2-way non advanced lacks the biquad filters and sticks to classic textbook filters. Good for a crossover beginner to mess around but the biquads are a lot mroe flexible.

I have to sit down and do some more reading on the bi-quads.

If you use LSPCad (and I believe SoundEASY), you can actually simulate exact transfer functions and convert them into biquad values.

Good comparison. I don't need the qualities that are lacking in the miniDSP so they aren't deficiencies for me. I like the computer configuration because my computer is in the same room and immediately adjacent to my optimal sitting position. I dreamed of such a product for decades, since the days of crossovers by the book in the '70s.
