I'm renting it :) When they are all out, I will see about picking up the set. I want to see how they decide to end it, since we know there are various "endings" to the series, so that will determine what I do.

Have the Region 3 DVD and pre-ordered this Funimation Blu-Ray release December of last year. Amazon sent notice my 2.22 copy shipped out yesterday and am expecting it the end of the week. 1.11 was good, 2.22 is AWESOME....:D

1.11 was pretty good, but like I said in my review of it, if you've seen the whole series, this "distilled" version leaves a lot of background info out. It is much more "to the point", which isn't a bad thing to some extent since the first two or three episodes of the series gave you far too little information :)

I'm confused, are these the entire series coming out, or just chapters of the story? I loved the entire series, are there plans to release a boxed set?

Each disc is a few episodes chopped down and combined into one long segment. They have been updated with new additional digital animation that, at least on the first one (since I haven't seen the second), is extremely well integrated in. As I mentioned, I am waiting to see what they do with the ending before deciding to buy these, as well as whether or not they have a box set of them.

I have not seen the original Evangelion series, but these rebuild movies are a retelling of the series in a different manner from all accounts. 1.11 follows its corresponds episodes closely, but from what many have said, 2.22 takes Evangelion on a new direction in a different manner from what happened in the original TV series.

I don't know about a boxed set, but it would be years down the road from now if there is one judging on the release cycle...

As for Evangelion 2.22 Blu-Ray...the audio is just WOW...I'd put it right behind The Sky Crawlers for detail/surround use and overall sound quality.
