I am now using a 12 year old Mirage 8" sub as part of my system. Have PSB T55 fronts. Living room is 18 x 22 with 10 ft ceilings. Use both for music and movies....appreciate any ideas!

It's hands down the best deal going that I know of. We used to use these all the time for larger theater systems. Original retail is somewhere around $1,500-$1,600 if I remember. It slams loud and is acurate. Jamo liqudated these to dealers/retailers to make room for the new THX model.

That would be my recommendation.

Note: The description says THX Select, but this model is THX Ultra.

That's a mighty big room (~4000cuft) for your budget. I'd save an other $100 or so and buy something that will really satisfy. Possibly an Outlaw Audio LFM-1 Plus or Hsu Research VTF-2.

Epik Legend since you have a bigger room. It is sealed, but the dual drivers really do give you plenty of output.

Looks like a beast. how shallow is the low end rolloff?

In that budget range, I'd go for the Rythmik FV12 ($550). Although, with that room size, by real vote would be to save up a little extra and go for the SVSound PC12-NSD DSP cylinder sub - glean all that lovely extra output, extra extension and protection of the DSP circuitry ;)

Your guess is as good as mine.

Here is a thread about it from AVSForum: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1321789&page=3 . Post 85 they post graphs from a pair of these in a 3500 cubic foot room.

They post a graph from The Jamos in thenlarge room and the HSU VTF-15H. Only, don't be mislead or misread.... The HSU measurments were done in a 1500 cubic room and on different test equip. So, their comparison is pointless.

Take it for what it's worth.

How does VTF-1 compared to Epik Legend? I mostly listen to classical and country music.
