Niles Audio Volume Control

Hi All,

I recently purchased a Niles Audio Volume Control and speakers for the kitchen (Paradigm Atoms) to run off a Yamaha rxv-765 Zone 2.

I turned the VC all the way up (according to the instructions), then turned the receiver up to a decent level, and went back to the kitchen to adjust, but the VC didn't change until I got to the second-to-last setting. Basically giving me 'soft', 'loud' and off.

I've also tried the opposite, starting at the softest volume and getting louder, but its no different.

Any suggestions?

What's the model # of the Niles VC?
Is it an impedance matching control?
Forgive me for the following stupid question.....are you sure you're adjusting the zone-2 volume?

Look at the wire connections- the control is marked 'Amplifier' and 'Speakers'. If you connect the speakers to the amplifier side, it does this. It happens.

Ditto on the jumpers for impedance- it's under the small plastic plate behind the knob.

Its a TVC-1
Yes.
No offense taken. Yes, its definitely hooked up to Zone 2, when I adjust the z2 levels on the receiver you can hear the difference in the kitchen.

Amp & Speakers are wired correctly.
Couldn't find the jumpers - the volume knob will not come off...?

I thought it would be an in-wall control. Look on the back and read the manual for the correct settings. If you only have one speaker on it, make sure it's set to 1x. The other settings are for when you use additional volume controls in different areas.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I fixed it - I had it wired incorrectly (which only took a few hours of staring at it to determine).

D'oh!
