I netflixed this one. I thought it was going to be more of a kids movie, but I probably wouldn't recommend this one for small children. I was surprised to find out that it was directed by Zack Snyder, the director of 300, and it shows in the more violent nature - no blood, but a fair amount of intensity and battle. It has a pretty standard story but I felt it was presented quite well. They said they used some of the same animation technologies as Happy Feet to make the animals more realistic, and that is both beautiful and kind of unnerving at the same time, because the owls look REAL. There light/dark, good/evil elements are very distinct with the various aspects looking like something out LOTR (in a good way). The animation is excellent and is the real draw here. The sound is very good as well, and the voice acting is well done. Probably not a buy, and as I mentioned it isn't a little kids movie, but definitely worth a rental IMO.
