From reading about the switch, it seems like it has to be integrated into the Monster system or such, true. Can it be applied to a standard system by itself and still use the advertided features? thx

I believe you need to purchase additional Monster items that you plug in around the home and it controls them.

So it definitely isn't stand alone.
