Actual TLS, I decided not to go with it, because I have a friend who I've been having a hard time reaching who is a DJ and I think he might be able to hook me up with something good/used from a friend or anyone he knows. I am sad that I am going to end up waiting another 4 years to actually get this going, but I want to start things right, and not with junk. Also, those debut series machines look amazing as ever.

Get your friend to look over the EBay suggestions I made. They are all respectable turntables that will provide you many a good year of service. (provided they were looked after by the owner.) ;)

Well most of those bids are ended, and it's US ebay. I actually have to use ebay.ca just cause it shows items that can be shipped to canada easily/are in canada. It'll cost me a lot less to do it from there, and I'll look around with a bud beside me so I can actually win by bid so I can get one for super cheap and way better hopefully. :)

Just found this online, any good? If so I can pick up my friend and go check it out sometime for quality assurance!

Halifax/(forgot its twin city nane at the moment) sould have a few audio dealers around. About 20 years ago, medjucks in Moncton had their own seperate section dedicated in to stereo equipment. They had speakers from Mission and a few other British makes as well as Energy. I think a google search is in order for you to dfind all the audio dealers in greater Halifax. :)

That Technics is moiles better than the Numark. :)

Vinyl is a lot of fun and even though a lot of the LPs I own I also have on CD I still enjoy listening to vinyl at times. Perhaps it's the different sound, the different experience or something else.

I agree with TLS guy's warnings, keep your expectations grounded but you don't need to be scared away from vinyl.
Agree... I just i could play my vinyls forever... Sad I can't...

Herro everybody!

Sorry to rehash old post, but it is relevant. On my search for a turntable my dj buddy let me know of a place that had ordered a turntable for someone else and they never came to get it. I called them up about it, brand new Stanton T62, he said he wants 240$ taxes in. That's just about what I've seen them going for (usually ~200 from what I saw, and tax here makes that $230. Also, it doesn't come with a cartridge. I am less worried about that since I can buy a nice cartridge anywhere, and as long as I am a step closer to happiness it's ok. Just coming back here to see what you guys say about it, whether I am about to embark on another piece of junk or not.

Thanks for the help as usual,

Its on Amazon for $199 with cartridge!

I would still get this cartridge
, as DJ cartridges are a bit rough.

It should be a reasonable starter rig.

I personally like the sound of vinyl, but as stated before, setup is complicated and many of the kinds of musics I listen to are not available on vinyl (think various types of death metal).

Although I would like to say that a turntable setup with a nice tube amp just looks super baller.

There's always a side B to this arguement.. :D .. Alot of the used viyl I get can't be purchased on CD anymore or even availabe for down load. I have some obsecure blue artist recordings that will never make it to CD.

Records always sound very boomy to me. It's neat. Used record players almost always need a calibration tho
