Hello
I am a new joiner and I want to set an avatar before I post to ask some advice about my system.
i went to the User CP....Edit Avatar..... I can not turn off the little green dot about no avatar. I have one on my flash drive I want to use.
I am sure i am just missing some little step. Any help appreciated. By the way this is a great site!

You probably need like 5 posts before you can use an avatar.

Alex may be right, but did you try selecting the Custom Avatar radio button which would deselect the No Avatar button.

Yep, it is 5 posts. Give it a few minutes to register too,( your 5th post) because right after your 5th post it still wont go. Good luck
