hello audioholics- i have been given a denon avr 4800 excellent condition( from family member who owed some $). iwant to have two great speakers for rock n roll listening and televison watching in a room that is 15 x 25 x 15 tall, just two speakers, wife wants no wires for surround, i know there r wireless available remember name of thread. two speakers( floor standing) were enough of a fight. a buddy has a pair of canton ct 1000 but they r 4 ohms. is this a good match for denon 4800. if not any recommendations r truly appreciated. the more buddies i talk to seems they all have older speakers they all want me to use, and have heard some of their older speakers and like them. really just dont know that much bout them and want to make sure receiver matches speakers. like to keep it under $1000, and have no problem buy used for a buddy or elsewhere. thank you much for any imput. iceman4800

Even a modest attempt at capitalization, correct spelling, halfway decent grammar, with at least one use of paragraphing might get you better responses.

For now, you can chew on this, I believe that wireless speakers are a misnomer. The reason being is that they swap the speaker cable for a power cable.

You could get a pair of the PSB GT1 speakers - they sound good.
Good for rock & roll and TV - they will play with your receiver. I am
not a fan of wirelesss speakers.
Move down the page a little - new and in the box.

Wife-friendly HT System

Hi Iceman,

I went through exactly the same situation recently. My friend got me an Onkyo-TX-SR608 from USA at a steal. So I took it.

Then I bought myself a pair of kickass ELAC floorstanders. But then, when I looked at all the wires dangling behind my LED, I saw the point that my wife has been making for quite a while.

Then I discovered this Fully Wireless HT System called Violet (a new launch). My audiophile sensibilities didn't agree to it....but I went for an audition anyway. And man was I in for a surprise.

This thing is total space age stuff - the design is sure to impress you. But the soundstaging will impress you even more. It's developed by a company called Snap Networks. Check it out on the web.

Now I'm going to trade in my Onkyo AVR for Violet. And get myself a Stereo Amp for my floorstanders.

Cheers!:D
