It was as cheap at Newegg but today it is back up to $1450. I think I am going to buy the 3008 in a couple of months so maybe by then it will be below the $1000 mark.....

we'll see... the nr3007 when the 3008 first came out didnt even hit $1150... so this seems a lot lower than the nr3007 went, not sure how much cheaper theyll go

Sounds like a great deal!
I have two 5007 and a 1007; many who've tried both the 3007 and 5007 felt the toroidal transformer of the 5007 was worth the difference. Would this be the same for the x008 series?
My 5007 sounds amazing (the second one isn't even opened yet, awaiting the theatre room to be completed). However, I don't know if I'd hear the difference between a 3008 and the 5007

You can add me to the camp that had the 3007 and 5007 at the same time and did NOT think it was worth the premium in price for the "power". Now, couple that with the fact that I run external amps and it is a total non issue. The 3008 is a STEAL for what it does at $1149. I ordered one to compare with my Denon 4311ci and will be playing around with it this weekend...

cconklin1, I just got the nr3008 a few days ago, moving up from a Yamaha rx 2700. I'm still tweaking it, the bass sounds a little anemic, but I cant set my sub at 75db, because it does not have a volume control. The vocals on the nr3008 are definitely more clear and I hear things I did not hear before.

I was considering the Denon 4311ci as well but since it had so many bugs I got the nr3008 instead. I am curious to know how the nr3008 compares to the 4311, because I can still return the 3008 and get the 4311 if I have to. I would appreciate any inputs.

How much power does this puppy have, really? Can it power up Maggie's or other electrostatics?

I looked into the specs and for the price. I had the same expression as the OP. A steal~ Great reviews on amazon too. ;)
