replace speakers in medical office

the doctor wants to replace the 7 existing speakers, 4 are not working at this time. The existing speakers look like standard 8" speakers without any transformer on them and looks like they are directly wired to a Sony receiver. Also has one volume controll in hallway?
I want to keep the existing sony stereo but change out the 7 speakers and one volume control, what are my options???

Thanks,
TE

Monoprice as 8" in ceiling speakers that would work well for this purpose or you can get even cheaper speakers if those are too much $$ at Radio Shack, but I've had friends with good luck with the Monoprice in ceiling speakers.

Monoprice also has speaker selector boxes and volume controls.

If I have to replace speakers in my medical office someday, monoprice is where I'll be going. :D

Thanks for the info. Is it normal for all 7 speakers to be wired directly into the sony stereo? also if replacing wiring what should I use.

Thanks for the help!!!

No, it's not a normal method of wiring 7 speakers and I would bet that the original setup was 25V or 70V with a mono amplifier. If you look at the wiring, it may have a silver/gray jacket and two conductors. If that's the case, and you only have one wire at the stereo, don't just wire them parallel- it will toast the amp.

I bet its not the speakers and the receiver is toast. I suspect there are four speakers on one channel which is blown because of the low impedance and the three that are working are on the good channel.

I would recommend going to speakers with transformers and using a pro 70 volt PA amp.
