Props, Meh, or Face Palm?

So I recently delved into the audio portion of home theater after focusing mostly on displays. I decided 2.1 would suit my needs. My needs being simplicity, budget friendly, neighbor friendly.(One bed apt)
Not a dedicated audiophile...yet...but I know good sound when I hear it.
Here's what I just bought and setup:

Denon AVR-391
Klipsch Icon VS-14 (2)
12 gauge speaker wire - 6 ft of it for each speaker.

The AVR was $150 and the speakers were $255 after some xmas gift cards. When my next influx of cash arrives, I'm gonna take a seriously hard look at the PSW-111 for $195.

So my question to anyone that's listening is: Is this a worthy 2.1 set-up? Did I do my homework correctly? Or did I get ripped off? How much better could I have done for $400 thus far? ($600 after sub)

I wouldn't recommend buying the polk sub. I don't know anything about those speakers, but if you like how they sound, then that's great.

What are some of the better subs out there at that price point?

I'll add Lava LSP10 to this list
Plus I don't know if I'd use surround speakers for my mains... btw: BB lists them at 99Hz - 23kHz w/o Db rating, at the minimum you must x-over at 100hz or higher, this also mean you MUST place your sub in front near your Klipsch Icons

Yeah, just looked those up...definitely not what I'd have up front. If you like the sound of them, you should exchange them for the VB-15 instead.

Ok, I def planned on that, but not specifically for that reason. Good to know. What would be the ramifications otherwise? Oh and the Klipsch site says +/- 3dB

Well, the receiver is nice.

1) Specs lie when confronted with the real world. That's a fact of this hobby.

2) That's bipole/bipole speaker that's designed for surround purposes. It'll simply suck if used for mains because it'll sound diffuse. You want some directionality in your mains.

2) Go for the Dayton sub. ...or virtually any other sub. Period.

Roger that on the Dayton, seems I can't go wrong with that. I can't honestly say the sound coming from these Icons suck, but I also can't honestly say I have real frame of reference. Oh and glad the receiver was a good choice :D

Definitely eye-balling the Dayton SUB-100. Man am I glad to have gotten advice to steer me from that Polk :)
