Hello All,First of all I want to apologize ahead for any forum etiquette mistakes its my first thread/post. I had a friend give me an MTX psw101b the other day after he found out I was into HT, He told me it had a buzzing/Humming noise recently and maybe I could make it work for my System- (Onkyo tx-nr807 Klipsch refrence 52 Floor/center/rear velodyne impact 10) I have slowly put all this together over time, I think its cost me two girlfriends in the mean time....Oh well! I digress . So I saw this as the oportunity to finally use that second LFE out and got all excited. Ok to my point, my buddy went on too tell me hes had this sub hooked up every kind of way through old cheap recievers/Amps and he abuses audio gear(ultimate sin its hard too watch) again I digress.

My question is this, After I got it home I plugged it in with no input signal and turned it on to a loud stomach turning humming buzzing. Im no pro but Im guessing he looped it by having both RCA and terminal inputs all hooked up at same time trying to push massive amounts of power through it? The Manual online says either gounding prob. (return unit to factory) or muting driver failure (return unit to factory) Is it a total loss? Im not interested in putting money into it to send it off anywhere, is there anything I can do with it?

Thank you for any advice again I apologize for not getting right to the point.!
