Well, these speakers look phenomenal and sound great, I just don't care for the omnidirectional sound. The speakers are in perfect condition except for the bottoms which have some minor scratches from moving around. I'll take a pic of the bottom if anyone wants, but you will never see the scratches.

Comes with the original boxes and everything else that originally came with them. I bought them from Vanns like a week ago.

$280 shipped CONUS

Why not just return them to Vanns?
I think there would be like a 20% restocking fee. I figured someone on here might want to try them. I already emailed Vanns, but I didn't get a response yet.

Kudos for being honest - most would return them saying the scratch was the reason for the return !!

Good for you mate !

Great pictures by the way!
I've not heard these mirages before -Can you describe this omnidirectional sound? Is it like the source cannot be pinpointed or what ?

I unplugged them a few days ago, so it's not real fresh in my mind. Orchestral pieces sound very nice, as someone mentioned in a different thread, but I found the diffuse sound odd for other types of music. With the right placement, these speakers could perform very well, but that right placement was not on my desk.

These would make excellent surround speakers because of their omnidirectional nature, but I have no need for surround speakers at the moment.

I am with you on their use for desktop music...

I had bought a rosewood pair a year ago and didn't really like them in that setting, and found the treble a bit too in my face when used nearfield.... so ended up selling them.

That said... I just bought another pair and a C1 in maple to try out in a 3.1 setup in my bedroom. I never tried the C1 before, since at the time I had the first pair of OMD-5's, it was $350.

Given how much they've come down in price... and my lack of finding another bedroom speaker I've been content with since I sold my ACI Emerald XL's (for $$ reasons).... I'm giving Mirage another shot.

I fully expect I wouldn't like the OMD-5 any more this time around on my desktop... but I did think they were a nice speaker when not used nearfield... and always thought they'd be very nice for movie use... which is all they'd see in the bedroom anyway.

So we shall see....

If you need 2 more for 5.1... :D

And I'm willing to do trades for just about anything lol.

I emailed Vanns and they said they would take them back but I would have to pay shipping. Thats fine with me, but they kind of ignored my question as to if there would be a restocking fee because the bottoms are scratched.

Hmmm... 5.1 would be nice... but also probably unnecessary for my room.

Besides, the budget is always the limiting factor.

And I don't have much to trade... a Pioneer DV410VK dvd player and a pair of Final Sound S95 subs are about all I am for sure getting rid of....maybe a pair of Energy RC-Mini's...

I recently bought a pair of used bamboo Audioengine P4 speakers to compare against my PSB Image B4's... so the loser of that will have to go... But the buyer just shipped them yesterday so I won't even have the P4's for another week, and can't say which of the two I'd want to sell.

I just sold an eD A3S-250 and a Denon AVR-788 in my attempt to start clearing house a bit...

On a side note... it was the PSB Image B4's I kept over the OMD-5's for my desktop speakers... While the OMD-5 is probably the "better" speaker" - better clarity and detail.... the B4's just worked alot better for me nearfield. They really are nice small speakers.... I just read today that PSB is releasing an Imagine B-Mini that really turned some heads at CES... slightly larger than the Image B4, but alot more expensive ($700 vs $300 retail)... I sure wish I could afford those...

Well I for one love the way the Mirage speakers sound. I have them mounted upside down about an inch from my ceiling. I need to get 2 more so I can have a 7.1 setup. I dont want to buy any right now but I do have a Pioneer vsx1015tx that I want to unload. So we will see.
