Do you have a router?

Honestly though I think you need to find yourself a part time job there buddy. Like McDonalds or something. You could build a box for this rockford but it would be a waste of time as it sounds like it's really banged up. You should instead consider a driver like a Dayton RSS315HF-4...

A driver worth building a box around.

no i dont but thats on my list of stuff i need
im working on finding a job
the rockford has seen better days but it still beats hard, the only problem with it is the really low bass sounds awful :( but oh well, it was $5
i will upgrade the sub eventually when i get the $$$ so i think i will build a box that would suit the dayton, and then use my rockford in it until i get the dayton

L X W X H = 5.71

The problem is indeterminate - meaning it does not have a precise answer.

You'll have to decide on two dimensions, then solve for the third. For example, say you decide you want it 18" (or 1.5 feet) wide and where you want to put it, you can go 2 feet deep, you would have:

2 X 1.5 X H = 5.71 or 3(H)=5.71 or H=1.903 feet.

Considering the thickness of the panels and interior bracing, you might go with 2.2 feet for the height if you want to retain 5.71 cu ft as your interior volume. This is, of course a rough estimate, but it seems reasonably accurate for this project.

You would do yourself a favor to build a prototype box out of corrugated cardboard. You can build it at half scale and use duct tape, but pay attention to which edges are going inside of which sides. Stuff like that can trip you up!

Not to be the party pooper, but you should really be focusing on getting your grades up and not on building a subwoofer box. A hobby is something fun you can do in your free time, and shouldn't be detrimental to your education. These are important years for you, and tinkering with speakers isn't worth being set back in school. I'm sure everyone here will agree with me on this. Take some time off from audioholics and get your grades up. We'll still be here when you get back. ;)

5 Rules of Thumb to high school:

- Don't skip class.
- If you need help, you need to get help! That may include a tutor or someone with good grades in the glass.
- The textbook is there for a reason. Can you honestly tell me you attempted enough of each type of problem
- The teacher ALWAYS sucks. The good teachers are the rare ones. You need to learn to deal with it, like others do. The class average is not 7%.
- Don't do drugs...I'm supposed to tell you not to do drugs.

It does sound like it's too late but I definitely think that you need to get your grades up to the high 70s before you even consider something as trivial and time consuming as this.

save the drinking and such for when you're an adult and have real stress such as massive bills, deadlines and securing your long term careers and securities, children, spouses.
Only being 30, im young enough to remember how hard I thought highschool and collegewere and how "unfair" I thought the systems were. Glad that the real world kicked me in my face immediately to snap me into a man.
