Is that true about crossovers?

I read today on the internet that setting your fronts at the same crossover then the sub could cause problems..so right now my sub is crossed over at 80Hz and my fronts are also crossed at 80Hz...is that ok or i should take one or the other lower or higher?..thx....

It's true.

You need to only set the x-over in one of the units, if that's what you meant.

Does your sub have an LFE input. If so, the subs x-over is not employed anyway.

If you meant setting 80 for both in the receiver, then that is perfectly fine.

Are you able to choose a different point for your center than the mains?

If so, I recommend 60 for the mains.

60 for the sub.

80 for the center.

80 for the rear.

Nice system BTW!

My sub doesnt have that LFE adjustment...the only LFE adjustment i can do is on my receveir...right now its set at 0db... dont ask me to put it higher on the receiver because the sub is too loud...the best adjustments i got was when the LFE was at 0db...my receiver can go from -10 to +10...my cross over for the fronts is set at 80Hz and on the back pannel of the sub im set at 80Hz also....?

Turn the x-over on the sub all the way up. Do not set it to 80. All the way up.

Leave the Pio set to 80.

Done.

Sorry but i was wrong ...the LFE on my receiver can go from..''off''...to 0... -5..-10..-15 and -20 db...and right now its set on ''0''..what i meant was at +2 is the sub channel level ''on the receiver''.....there i can go from -10 to +10 .....

Nice to see you didn't leave us. By setting the xover on the sub to its highest point, it will basically bypass the subs internal xover. If you have a SPL metre that should help set the db level properly on your receiver?

Okay I'm confused. If you have the subwoofer connected to the subwoofer preout on your receiver then you have the receiver should be the only crossover in use. If that's the case then you should just dial the one on the sub all the way up to maximum. Some subwoofer actually bypass the on-board crossover when you use the RCA input - but not all. What you do not want is two crossovers duplicating effort and affecting the blend between sub and speakers.

I would never leave such a nice forum ok?...if i was wrong in ''all'' i said the other day well my apologies!....to come back to the subject!...if i set the crossover to max on the sub i have to much..signal or ''power''..call it as you want...but i hope you understand what i mean?...right now its set at 80Hz...that means 12 o'clock...but if i raise it to even 1 o' clock that is a drammatic change!... and about setting it to max forget it...its way to much bass!.........by that i mean i may love bass but i hate bleeding from my hears!.....why does i feel like the crossover setting is acting like a level buton?...is that normal?.

Turn the darn sub x-over knob all the way up, as far as it will go, to the right, until it will turn no more.

Sounds like you are turning up the gain on the sub. This shouldn't be that complicated.

you are right again..what i meant was the phase alignment ...but why if i raise it i get much more bass?
If you are sure you are adjusting the phase, then use the setting that gives you the best bass at your viewing position.

I always use 0, and work with sub placement from there.

Clouso have you level matched all your speakers...I know this will seem like a dumb question? Your mains and sub should blend nicely together... one shouldn't overwhelm the other.
