First off, glad I found this site. I hope to learn a lot from you guys. I know very little about home theater stuff. I hope you can lead me in the right direction.
About 3 months ago, I bought a surround sound system off of craigslist for $200. It was a mix of Sony speakers: 2 surrounds, 2 bookshelf, 2 towers (ss-mf515), a center, a 7.1 pioneer receiver (vsx-516), and an Onkyo sub (skw-560). 2 days ago I traded a softball bat for my friend’s 15” Cerwin Vega sub (SUB-150). He then sold me 2 Snell Acoustics type D tower speakers and a Cerwin Vega center speaker (Re-6e) for $40.
Where do I go from here, and what should I be looking for? I think I should build off of the Snell speakers, but I don’t know what type speakers match well with these. To me, the Cerwin Vega center doesn’t sound all that great, so I think I should upgrade my center channel at this point. $400 is probably the max I can spend right now on the upgrade. I don’t mind buying used stuff, but I’d like to invest in quality. In a few months I hope to move on to the next step.
Thanks guys, I appreciate any and all help.
