Folks, I just came across an article claiming that this may be the last Christmas our troops spend in Iraq. Very delighted to read such good news. My prayer is that all of our troops make it home safely. Please take a few moments of your time to remember those serving this great nation of ours. It truly will be a great day when out troops are reunited with their loved ones. Let it be known that I salute each and every one of you. Thanks for keeping all of us safe. For those interested, here is the article:

Seriously, I have no life.
I hope we can bring ours home ASAP but I fear the wack-jobs who'll be scrambling to fill the power vacuum want that even more than we do. The problem is they want us to leave for completely different reasons.

Is it too much to ask for one generation of peace?

I wouldn't bet the farm on that one....

There will always be a somewhat large presence in the Middle East, and that means all areas of it.....

I may be a reduction of force, but there will still be many many troops stationed over there for years to come - rotating in and out. Most of the time, this type of info is just pumped to the masses to keep them in good spirits but they are all in all just kept in the dark.... Not trying to be a downer, just the reality of the state of affairs in that region.

"Too many secrets !!!"

It'll be right after the troops have their last Christmas in Germany, Japan, and Korea. ;)

This is so very true. But, at least a significant amount of troops may be leaving Iraq for good. If so, that will allow them to be reunited with their loved ones. However, things could change given the current state of affairs in that region. It would be nice to see some stability there for a change.

Agreed Phil.... sadly enough, the holy wars have been going on for a very long time, chances of there being peace over there are very slim... and the bordering country's business of drugs don't help things either... fighting and the subsequent power struggles stemming from it are a large part of a great many problems...

Have you noticed that every time the US talks about when our troops will be leaving, the attacks increase? They WANT us there. If we leave, they'll run out of targets. With the contractors & Iraqi "soldiers" running away, selling any weapons they can get their grubby mits on, they have an endless supply of arms.

Does kind of seem that way doesn't it? I mean, you may have a good point here. At least, that is one perspective who really knows why things turn out like that.
