Got my Marantz blu-ray player back from the shop, again:rolleyes:. Popped-in this JA blu-ray. Can't believe there is no response to this blu-ray here. It is flat-out bad @$$.

I saw the extended trailer and it looked and sounded really good. Might just be a rental for me though.

So the lead singer can actually sing well? Or was there some auto tune going on?

A long time ago I heard a live recording, and I thought to myself that the guy couldn't sing to save his life. Maybe it was just a really, really bad day for him or something, but I swear . . .

He does a respectable job, considering his age and lifestyle.

He has the voice machine(or whatever it's called) on stage with him. Guess he decided the sound man couldn't handle the job. Unit can be seen in this pic:

Thanks. I am betting good money that he must use auto tune, because I think he can't sing without artificial aid to save his life.

Believe it or not, all singers/bands use some sort of sound man. Just ask JAMIE2112.:D

I know. I've never yet addressed a "sound man", because auto tune is a completely different thing.

There was an AH thread on it too, where we were all bashing it, but I can't find it.

You are a drummer yes? The best way I could describe it to you is to have a horrific drummer playing on stage, and a device that automatically shifts the hits to the nearest subdivision that works. No rubato, no pushing, no behind the beat, just a machine that takes an incompetent musician's output and spits it out in a rather uncreative but "unoffensive" form.

You would be shocked to know that many drummers on tour playing stadium gigs don't even tune their drums. It's true, they just hit the corresponding drum and the perfectly tuned pitch is what you hear.

As far as Perry Farrell, I like his vocals on his albums. So, his live performance doesn't offend me.

Kind of like Robert Plant doesn't offend me. I just like to see the guy do his thing.

We all are going to get old and worse at what we do. I respect, and accept that. Well on my way.

I am not shocked at all! haha.

I know a fellow who played drums for a pretty popular band (or maybe it was more of a flash in the pan, but they were getting radio air time, international concerts, etc). There looks like there are a couple of youtubes.

He told me he didn't even get to play drums for the studio recording, or something to that extent. Pure click tracks pretty much.

I've met the singer a few times too, nice guy. I admit I never knew that this band ever existed until probably several years ago, as it's just not my cup of tea, and I don't listen to the stations that play this kind of music either.
