After reading everything about these two, I'm leaning towards the Yammy. A few dollars more, no THX, but that's where I'm at. My previous one lasted...too long :) and it's time to upgrade. There's so many good choices at this level, but both come with high praise.

Which will give the most smiles to my ears?

Thanks!

Unfortunately, I'll have to buy one to work with it. I'm sure a few of you have experience with one of these bad boys. The setting up will be half the of the battle...um, joy :).

If the sales person is serious about this, he should let you play with the setup of these receivers...aka kick the tires..take it for a test drive etc. This should provide some insight. You may also want to down load the manuals of the unist you are looking at and have read through them to get an idea of how the maufacturers do things.

Good idea - I'll put it on my nightstand so I can have it all digested before it arrives. Setup seems to be a bit easier on the Yamaha, especially after the firmware update. Looking to match this with the new Aperion Verus and the Oppo. I have a very live, but large room this will play in and need to get a few area rugs to dampen it some. I'm afraid with those choices, it may be until the end January before it's all set up. I've waited this long however...what's a few more weeks.
