Need a subwoofer recommendation

I am looking for a subwoofer to place in a 22x17 room with the possibility of use in a slightly larger room (may be moving within the next year), for use with both movies and music. I need to keep pricing at $500 or less.

Can anyone recommend anything? Do I need to rethink my budget?

That's a pretty small budget for a room of that size. You'll want as much output as possible for your money, I would go with the Elemental Designs A2-300 or A3-250. Neither will be enough to pressurize that room but you may still get some bass if you experiment with placement. Honestly I would double your budget and look at the Hsu VTF-15H, or Elemental Designs A7s-450, or Epik Empire, or CHT 18.1.

well honestly for a 22' by 17' room i would agree that 500$ budget is quite small...dont know what to suggest you.....are you willing to pay a lil more??..and if you think it will probably be used in a larger room that would cost you much closer to the 1000$ mark.....look at SVS!....
