Need remote for Lexicon MC-1 or universal...

I recently picked up a Lex. MC-1 that I am very happy about, but it didn't come with a remote. I had assumed that the remote from my DC-2 would work it (they are VERY similar units), I was wrong Without a remote, I can't set any parameters, it is next to worthless.

I am going to try to find a remote via ebay and all the normal channels, but that might be a long wait. My other thought was to get a learning universal remote, and then find an MC-1 owner that I might be able to have copy the codes.

I was looking for recommendations on a good, inexpensive learning universal remote. Also, if they make such a thing, a universal that would let me back up the codes somehow in case it ever looses the codes.

Is there a solution I haven't thought of?

The higher end Universal Remote Control, Inc remotes that must be programmed via computer have the ability to save configurations so you could back up your remote. But they fail the 'inexpensive' test by a mile.

The cheapest URC option that can learn just about anything is the RF-20. You can get it and the associated RF basestation for under $100. The MX-350 without RF basestation is more like $150 but the few differences between it and the RF-20 are not features that are needed by most people (such as assignable emitters and the ability to set IR/RF/Both individually for each device).

I think I have the perfect cheap solution . Harmony remotes have the MC-1 codes. The remotes that I have for my Dish Network 722k receiver are learning remotes (I should have remembered that, I install Dish net & DTV) the 722k also backs up remote codes to the receiver. Looks like I had everything I needed already. All I need to do now is buy a Harmony remote, transfer the codes, back them up and return the Harmony, free MC-1 remote

I tried a Harmony and it is missing a very important button, w/o it I can basically only adjust volume.

The most important buttons are: up, down, select & done. I got all but "done". The done button is the only way to complete a setting. You can't leave the setting area w/o pushing it, can't even turn it off with the power button. The only thing you can do is kill the power with the switch on the back, but that corrupts the software and it wont boot, so you have to boot into service menu, clear the ram and start over. Kind of a pain. I was able to connect it to a computer and use "lexipanel", but it isn't as easy to set levels with. I guess I still need to find someone with a MC-1 and copy his codes.

She told me it was a JBL SDP-3 (rebranded MC-1). On a whim I cleared the MC-1 from the Harmony and loaded the SDP-3... It worked, I have the "done" button and all is good.
