I was thinking if someone really wanted to rumble the neighborhood, they could do this. Buy a Pyle Blue Wave 18" 1800watt car sub, Buy a enclosure for it (preferably a vented/ported one), and a home audio sub amp (one that puts out 1000+ watts has a frequency tuner, output tuner, sub input, etc... Could be done for about $1k and would be sweet!

Okay to be nice I'll give you a suggestion.

1x Exodus Tempest-X
1x Behringer EP4000
1x fan mod for the amp
1x 365L Ported Sonotube tuned at ~15.5hz

This will likely cost around $1000

For 1,000 I would build an Infinate Baffle sub, two 12" drivers 400.00 one crown 1000 watt amp 600.00 and time and tools and you could build a sub that would blow away any box sub on the planet.

for 1000...hmmm how about one ep4000, 4 Dayton RSS390HF 15" drivers each in its own 6.5 cubic foot slot vent enclosure tuned to 16 Hz.

That's probably pretty loud...and clean :)
