nevermind the somewhat amateurish photos (I'd offer to help but shipping a sub just for pics probably doesn't top their list), the Funky Waves doesn't seem to have any real specs listed which is a nono for me.

Regardless, I have always been interested in the SB12 and got myself the SB12-NSD on Tuesday. So I really can't provide you much meaningful input other than to say that so far the SB12-NSD is making me very happy. The tiny footprint was the primary reason the SB12 rose to the top of my list of contenders.

there's also the Emotiva Ultra Sub 12: http://emotiva.com/ultra_sub12.shtm

or the elemental designs A5s-300: http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_info.php?cPath=2_138&products_id=681

Thanks for the links but I am trying to avoid importing subs. Its a hassle and can get really expensive.

The Funkywaves is probably flat to around 22hz or so. Extremely good driver. You can expect clean response and decent SPL (106db probably without too much distortion at all)

MTB...why don't you open up some dialogue with him and send him a PM. I was hesitant at first, but later found him to be upfront, direct and very knowledgeable in this area. FWIW...your welcome to come over and give my sub a listen.:)

Anyways my recommendation is this.

Small Room - get the sealed SVS, it's got some boundary settings and it'll benefit from room gain.
Small-Medium Room - get the funky waves, it'll extend deeper because it's ported. Otherwise consider the ported svs.
Medium-Large room - screw footprint, get the Funkywaves 18.0 or 18.0M it will shake the foundation of your neighbourhood without distortion. The former will dig deeper into subsonics and the latter will still dig deep but give you concert level SPL @_@ or get teh 18.3.. it's got the LMS-5100 Pro with a pair of passive radiators @_______@

I love the bar style grille. How much extra was it on your sub?

If it is a small footprint you are after, get a cylinder SVS :)

Hahaha. I am not looking for earth shaking performance so that is why I am trying to keep costs down. Something that will perform adequately in a small-medium sized room and allow for somewhat flexible placement. Trying to keep costs between $500 - $600 + shipping.

My vote is for the SVS, but then again I'm biased, and have never heard a funkywaves. Have you looked into the used market at all, that could get you a better sub for less than the cost of something new. A JL Fathom F112 or F113 would be a good choice as well, albeit a bit over your budget.

I believe it was $25.00....and he has multiple colours to chose from...and fwiw I woulda paid more because I love their look. That sub should be as good as the pb10 judging from my conversation with him but he gives you more finish options. His enclouser are built outta BB ply...I believe so you'll have real wood grain finish which is a plus.

We are working on redoing all the photos on the site, as well as updating specs, prices, options etc, for each product, if you look at the newest products they do have more information. Just been to busy and unfortunately the website has suffered a low priority, until recently.
