Hi everyone,
Excuse my ignorance, I keep reading from thread to thread people use this to get a flat bass response out of their sub(s), from my understanding this would be like "Dyno Tuning" for a subwoofer. Similar to a car, but for a sub. My question is; does this do real time tuning as music or movies are playing so it has to be always hooked up and on, or does it make a dyno tune so to speak that is stored and can be unhooked. Excuse my ignorance I'm sure this has been covered somewhere and I have missed it. The reason I am asking is because it is a little pricey for me at the moment, and I didnt know if this is something a friend and I can go in on together, Tune my system and then tune his system and put it back up for sale. Again pardon the ignorance and thanks ahead of time
Unfortunately, this is a "magic black box". You have little input and it just "does its thing". You do not get output of the EQ corrections to be able to apply the results to another EQ system.
The box measures your system, then maintains the EQ suggested from that measurement just as Audyssey does in an AVR (actually, it is a Audyssey system).
I think it would be nice if they isolated the measurement system from the on-going EQ system. It is a shame to have the measurement portion sitting idle for 99% of its use and for those of us with systems in two to three rooms it would be nice to buy one measurement system and 2-3 EQ systems.
Even if they were separated, I would share it, but not sell it - I would want to have one around for when I swapped out speakers, moved furniture, etc.
If you are committed to an automated system, you might consider the Velodyne SMS-1 as a system which reveals a bit more of what it is doing, and you can find them used for $300 to $350.
Here is another option in the $350 price range, but I know little about it:
