Application? (Movies... Music.. both equal?)

Frequency Extension requirements?

Agreed on everything Granteed asked.

I'm trying one in my system on Tuesday. It's a 100% music system, never going to be pushing the limits of the sub as it'll be used in a smallish room and I don't make a habit of trying to go deaf. The output and frequency extension should be plenty for my room. If you have the space there's probably not much reason to go for a sub like this but ultimately, as Granteed has asked, that's just one of the factors that goes in to choosing a sub.

I wonder how it compares to the sealed 12"s from Emotiva and Elemental Designs. They are all spec'd similar, and cost the same.

My random uneducated guess would be that the elemental designs gets the loudest, the svs sounds the cleanest, and the emotiva is in between.

room is about a 14 x 20. The sub will be used for everything (tv, movies, xbox, music). cabinet size really doesn't matter it just can't be aesthetically hideous. I'd like it to get down around 25hz. Listening volume will be probably just a little louder than most people would consider "normal" with occasional crankange ;)

If louder than normal is what you are after, you should be looking at ported subs, not sealed ones. I would guess even the SVS PB10 could beat the SB12 with regards to output. The SB12 was made for a small footprint, not monster output. In that price range, I would look at the Outlaw Audio LFM-1 Plus, Hsu Research VTF2, or Elemental Designs A3-300. They cost the same as the SB12, but with regards to loudness, they will walk all over the SB12.

In the 500-ish range, I'd get an Epik Legend or Funky Waves 10.1
