VSX-23TXH: iPhone connectivity problem: PLEASE HELP!!

Hi, I bought a VSX-23 ELITE receiver six months ago. I was able to play through my iPhone 3GS up until I updated a iPhone OS with a version of 4.1. Before updating, the receiver was able to play the songs and radio stations from my iPhone without any problem or issue. Now, once I connect my iPhone with the receiver, the receiver can play music only for 2-5 minutes and it stopps producing sound through speakers. It seems like there is a conflict among the bugs. I am wondering if there is any firmware or software update that I should do with the receiver. Also, would you please let me know how to trouble-shoot this problem? Thank you.

I would give Pioneer a call on this and see what they have to say. I just put in a VSX-30 receiver and saw it work fine with my Touch, so it must be the firmware update which broke the standard interface which Pioneer had programmed to.

I would think that you will either end up with a firmware update to the receiver... or a program for the iPhone which you can download from the store.

Either way, I expect this bug may affect a lot of Pioneer receivers.

I am having the same problem. I have not had time to research in detail but it seems to me that the Apple software is causing some sort of timeout issue. Mine will play for 10-15 minutes and then start cutting out every 5 minutes or so after reconnecting manually.

Pioneer Tech Support Service SUCKS!

I talked to two Pioneer technicians on the phone and they said it is the iPhone which causes the trouble not the receiver. Also, he mentioned that the receiver is not available for firmware update/upgrade at all and it was made as it was compatible with iPhone 3GS. They also mentioned "there is nothing we can do" and told me to talk to iPhone technicians. I played another iPhone 3GS with a 3.1 software and it worked just fine. I don't know what to do now.

My music source is from my iPhone redio stations. Now this receiver is an unnecessary accessory to me...

All I did was I wrote an email of discontent to the CEO of Pioneer Electronics yesterday. If anyone has an idea, please advise me. Thanks...

Pioneer vs. Apple and it is nobody's fault.

So, you are SOL on this one.

As is typically the case, I am sure that Pioneer did follow the current software settings for Apple, and Apple messed up their software in a way that does not affect APPLE at all. Proprietary, proprietary, proprietary - welcome to the Apple world.

Solution: Get an AppleTV and go to the iTunes store, and buy Apple stock and ignore the rest of the world. Steve would really appreciate that.

I strongly believe it is Pioneer that made a dumb mistake. Pioneer VSX-23THX is an ELITE model priced around 800-900 dollars. Pioneer should have made the receiver firmware upgradable. Many BD players priced around $100s are upgradable. How dumb Pioneer is!!
