Folks, I got out to see this film this afternoon. Right now I am at a loss for words. That being said, lets just say that I wasn't too thrilled. The special effects were done very well for the most part. The audio effects were spot on. However, some of the video effects looked kind of generic to me.

The acting certainly is not going to win any awards per se. Neither is the storyline for that matter. Sadly, the ending was absolutlely rediculous imho. To be honest, this is the kind of film you should rent on a night when there is nothing else to do.

In short, people that know me know that I am a Scifi nut. Guess I have a wild imagination that gets the best of me from time to time. Surely you can tell that I did not really care for this film too much. Sure would not be in a hurry to go see it. It is best to wait and rent when there is nothing else to do. Over all, I give this film a C- at best. Not recommended!

I was hoping for something decent to come of this film, kind of like District 9 being a nice surprise for a low budget sci-fi film. They definitely spent a lion's share on the marketing for District 9. Skyline marketing was lax, probably due to a lack of confidence the studio had in the bankability of Skyline.

The trailers for the film did not start to appear until recently, shortly after followed heavy TV spot advertisements. The production of special effects concluding could have played a big part in the sudden onslaught of TV spots, because they do look very good. The studio is probably banking on special effects alone to support this film at the box office. They'll likely continue to run ads for the next couple of weeks before shutting down the marketing campaign. They'll certainly recover the production and marketing costs, as they are fairly low for this kind of film.

In many ways the film was crap. Don't get me wrong, as Seth pointed the f/x were done quite well for the most part. At times, however, the F/x looked quite generic to say the least. The acting was what I would refer to as mediocre at best. The story-line at times was decent. But over all, the film just did not measure up to what I was hoping for. For example, the ending was just bad leaving me with that WTF feeling. Maybe I was expecting too much. But, this film was just not to my liking. I was being generous giving it a C- rating. That should tell you something. As such, the Karate Kid would be better than this crap!

I started seeing commercials for it a few weeks ago. When I checked around on line, I read that they didn't screen the movie for reviewers. That's never a good sign. Now that it's out reviews have been appearing. Apparently it was screwed up in every possible way except for special effects. The audiences laughed a lot so this may be one for people who like to get stoned and watch B movies. Not that I would know anything about that.

I watched this POS movie last night, I really wish I hadn't, it was terrible. Please don't rent this unless you want something to complain about, and definitely do not buy it.
