JVC DLA-HD250: Locking HDMI?

I recently purchased the new JVC HD250 projector and noticed that the HDMI ports have a hex screw above the connector port. Does anyone know if this is for a special "locking" HDMI cable? There are several web pages that mention the presence of these connectors, but I am not sure which cables are compatible with the connector (aside from standard HDMI cable, which is what I am now using). Thanks for any comments.

It would appear so. However, it looks like the only cable that works that way, from my short research, is this one. http://www.awgcables.com/products_detail.php?pId=358&id=0001.0007.0000.0000&depth=1

An adapter seems like a good alternative to buying expensive cables. Check the video for what seems an simple intall. http://www.blueechosolutions.com/proddetail.php?prod=hd-ez-lock

I actually was sent something like this at some point...

http://www.lindy-usa.com/connector-lock-for-premium-gold-high-speed-hdmi-cables-6mm-thumbscrew-height/37428.html

A universal locking piece that slides on over most HDMI cables with a thumbscrew lock.

You can always pick up a cheap Geffen or other short cable and put it inline with your existing cable, but frankly, I haven't ever really had issues right at the projector since I typically do fixed installs and the cabling goes UP into the ceiling. I end up zip-tying the HDMI cables to the projector support beam which handles all the weight of the HDMI cable itself.

Hi,

I work for JVC, and would like to help.

You are correct that the DLA-HD250 is designed to work with the locking HDMI cables. A variety of companies make them. Gefen has a line they call Mono LOK which is one possible choice.

Chris,

Thanks for weighing in-I found this based on your information:

http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dcable.jsp?prod_id=5734

Street price for the 2m length seems to be around $35-$40, which is close to that of the Blue Jeans cables I had been evaluating (that do not have a locking feature). Thanks again for the tip-if there are any other specific products you are aware of, especially ones that have been evaluated with the JVC projectors, please feel free to post the info here or PM me directly.

You might want to check out Perfect Path's Locking HDMI cables at perfectpath.com.

They don't require any modification or attachment with a screw and lock in with 25lbs of retention.
