I've had mine for about a month. Very happy with it.

It's local dimming, that gives it a tremendous edge in performance. I wonder if Vizio offers a set with local dimming around the 42"-46" size range.

Yes...they do, the XVT473SV (47") and XVT423SV (42")

It is interesting that the two reviews have a different thought on off angle viewing. You would think that wouldn't be too subjective.

You would think... How does your set perform at off angle viewing, Curtis? Even if you don't have seats "off angle".

I think it does very well...but I am also not a video expert.

I researched a long time before buying the TV....and really wanted to go the plasma route, but my room/lighting situation just wasn't conducive for one.

Interesting

I was surprised to see this review while I was searching for TVs myself. I never considered Vizio to be a top maker of TVs but the times are changing apparently. I'm seriously considering this for my new TV, which I'll probably buy in the next 2-3 months. I'm also considering the 3D model XVT3D554SV. Its about 400 bucks more expensive though, even before the glasses are factored in. If I buy a new TV every 5 years or so, should I get a 3D model now you think? Is the technology worth it?

The current implementation of 3-D is potentially damaging to vision and it requires the use of special goggles. To me its still too gimmicky and not worth it.

I have heard this before, and I know studies are being done.

3db...do you know when these studies will be published by any chance?
