Thanks my wife and I really enjoy it. No need to go to the movies at all anymore in my opinion. Next thing I want is another sub to balance out the one I have and run full 9.2ch.

Ok eq all done did all 8 positions. Tested sound with u2 rattle and hum bluray. The surrounds and left and right are perfect! But the sub crossover is waaaaaaay off. Sub was barely hitting when I know it should. Went into menu saw that it though sub was 30 feet away when its about 12. All other speakers distance and crossover right on. So I set the sub to the.correct distance. Sub still off a bit have to manually recalibrate sub. Otherwise extremly happy with he sound and performance of the onkyo.

You meant to say "distance" and not "crossover" is way off, right? If you meant both are way off, what was the xover chosen on the sub? Remember to keep the LPF or whatever at 120hz, even if the sub xover is at 80hz (because xovers are not brick walls, and the .1 LFE channel can have info up to 120hz).

For your distance, leave it be where it was before. This is an extremely common misperception among first time users. It is accounting not just for physical distance, but also electrical distance, such as DSP or other filters your subwoofer has (and they all do). The distance measurement is extremely accurate, with a tolerance finer than 0.1 ft, however the true number will not be released by Audyssey/Chris.

Very nice, it's always fun to get new gear, especially when you save a ton of money on it. I'm sure you will enjoy that receiver for many years to come.

Ok I set the distance back.to 30 feet. But I can't find the subwoofer crossover setting anywhere. When I go into speaker settings it only lists subwoofer 1, 2 or no then left and right at 40hz center 100hz and surrounds 120hz all correct and sound good. But I get nothing out of the sub at even high volumes. I turn the audessey off and boom my sub is back but then I loose all the audessey settings even though it still has the distances and crossovers saved ? The only other sub settings I see are level settings no crossover. It seems to have disappeared after multeq. Am I missing some here? Im a little confused I admit.

Cypher, I just want you to know I'm now aware of your situation (I'm extremely tired, and of very limited help at this very moment). Outside of thinking that 1/2 might be some subwoofer assignment thingy (you must have dual outputs?), that in the meanwhile, I'd ask in the Audyssey thread at AVS, or their own blog/site, and also link the manual pdf for your unit in this thread so that someone can quickly open to browse around. If it's dual sub outs, and sub is connected to output 1, what happens when you select 1?

No need. I figured it out myself. I had to start from scratch with the sub. Manually adjusted the crossover and gain controls on the back of the sub along with the db level in onkyo till I had it the way I like. Turned audessey back on and everything is working perfectly now. The sound is amazing its like I have all new speakers. Every speaker is just" alive" and perfectly balanced at any volume level. Im extremely pleased with the onkyo and am so glad I got it. Thanks for all the tips and comments!

Hm. You must defeat your subwoofer's bass mgmt. Defeat xover completely. If undefeatable, raise xover point to very max, to minimize the issues with stacked xovers. The goal is to use your Onkyo bass mgmt by itself.

You can play with the gain controls if you want pre-Audyssey. You can do a very basic level cal if you want to give Audyssey a head start so to speak. Personally, I don't think it's necessary.

Lastly, I have no idea how playing with the sub's bass mgmt defeated Audyssey at the processor, strange. But, anyways, good luck!

I don't know either Haha. I was just messing around with everything in the onkyo that had to do with the sub and the controls on the sub itself and all of a sudden it started working perfectly with audyssey. Bass is super smooth and transparent, complements my main speakers perfectly. Surrounds are amazing I am hearing sublte effects from the surround channels I never knew existed before. The entire system is just so balanced. I couldn't be happier!
