got some sansui sp-z7's from davemcc :D a couple of days ago and they sound amazing except for the fact that the midrange speakers are blown :( so i need to replace them eventually, but i have no idea what i should replace them with. there are soo many 4"mid's out there and i have no idea what ones would be right. anything on parts express.com that you think would be good?

I still suggest measuring the mounting hole on the Sansui and see if the mounthing diameter of the tweeter will match that of the Sansui (hint, the mounting diameter is 3.75" on the Partsexpress midrange I linked).

If you want an exact match, I would recommend looking on places like eBay for used midranges, and do some online searching to see if anyone happens to have any new "old stock" of that particular midrange.

Would a direct swap even work? Wouldn't you have to modify the crossover a bit

Depends on the sensitivity and loudness of the driver - if it is not an exact match.

This one from parts express has a cutout diameter of 4 1/8 and flange diameter of 5 1/8 if it will fit between the woofer and tweeter.

Call parts express @ 800-338-0531. Ask them to recommend a replacement midrange driver for your sansui sp-z7. Tell them somebody from Audioholics gave you their number and recommended them.
