UFW-12 subwoofer drivers

I have a guy who is offering to sell me the 12" drivers found in the ufw-12 subwoofers from av123 for 400 bucks a piece, just wondering if this is a good deal. I can't find too much on the drivers themselves, but he says they are outstanding subs.

$400 per driver? Weren't the subs selling for around $599/ea (never-mind the MSRP)? I would think those drivers are $75-95 at best.

I am going to agree with Matt, but I will go even further. It would be insanity to buy the UFW-12 drivers for $400 a piece. Hell, let me save you some money, I will sell you both of mine for $300 a piece.

You can get some seriously good drivers for less money than that.

For example... even though the UFW-12 driver is supposedly a pretty solid driver... this would blow it away for less money than this guy's asking price:

Hahaha it's actually mark schifter himself, I live in boulder co. And vie been buying stuff from him for the past few months. I offered him 125 a piece so I'll see what he does.

Bought a couple emotiva bpa-1's for 60 bucks from him, as well as some cerwin vega AT-15 speakers for 125 bucks, so I've had good experience in the past

You could buy those drivers from him, but, even for a fair price, how do you know they might not be defective ones he wasn't willing to sell before? It's not like you have a lot of recourse if they turn out to be bum drivers.

There are starting points for negotiating, but at the price he offered ($400 a piece???) he is flat out trying to take advantage of you, but as long as he was nice and helpful. That is how the man was able to con so many out of so much. Personally I bet he takes the $125 offer because that is probably worth more than they are worth. Good luck. He truly is a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Amusing... Sounds like more than a few items made it into MLS's garage/basement/attic before the closing of the business/bankruptcy. Who knows if those drivers had issues from customer returns or what the state of them is.
