Pardon my ignorance...but...Am I asking too much? Would it be more realistic for me to seek out a unicorn or a pixie? Can someone please give me a list of what I seek......IF it even exists?

Finding amps and receivers built somewhere other than China may not be great challenge but finding one that has no components built in China will.

Mac, Carry, Levinson, Quad, Anthem, Bryston, Hafler, etc. All are great but if looking for processors also components will be made up from overseas parts. Also be willing to shell outs the bucks. Don't get me wrong, all of the referenced amps will last a lifetime with minimal fault and repair. Even Emotiva which are assembled US are good products. Just realize you needs vs financial means.

I don't think any of their gear is assembled in the USA. My UPA-7 amp says 'Made In China' on the back. It is made by a company called ToneWinner and re-badged by Emotiva.

If I had serious money behind me, I might be persuaded to pick up this integrated amp for a dedicated 2 channel set-up

The asking price is a mere $8000. USD . Its also compared to the much cheaper Bryston integrated amp costing a palty 3000. USD

What would severly burn my bacon is if these two amps were built in China ( I don't know if or if they aren't..just sayin..) for next to nothing and command such a price anyway. I don't doubt for a 2nd that they are solid products and probably better than most but that price is just too steep to be realistic. At least it offers a 10 yt warranty, the Bryston, a 20yr which is hepas better than any of the other boutique candy out there I suppose.

Not far from my house, these guys make gorgeous gear!

http://aminaaudio.com/

The pre-amps are pricey, the amp is "only" $800.

I have listened to his stuff and it definitely is nice sounding. However, I would guess it is his speakers I was hearing, not the amps.

Benny is a great guy, and is the "go to" guy for high end repair in the Atlanta area.

Someone mentioned ATI, who builds amps in California. Outlaw Audio's multichannel amps are all built by ATI.
Even Emotiva which are assembled US are good products. Just realize you needs vs financial means.
All of Emotiva's products are built in China. No US assembly.

Sadly, "Big Bucks" I don't exactly have. My wife and I work hard to live comfortably, but since we don't go on vacations or spend money on going to the theaters, then we can sometimes open our mothballed wallets and make a nice purchase or two. I had only very recently purchased my Klipsch speakers for a decent 7.1 surround experience. Yes, there are far better out there than our Klipsch, but for us, we are "WOW'd". Now with my HK 7300 suddenly going south, my wallet hasn't had time to gather a speck of dust. Thus, I'd love to find something better than my HK and American, but for around $2K would be nice, and less would be great!:D I would also like it to be able to utilize the latest HD audios as well.

Another one to consider...

Don't forget about B&K...I think they are made out East somewhere.
