Alien Life Discovered?

A couple planets in this system land in what we consider the habitable zone. This one is the latest find. What's even more interesting is that a scientist in Australia discovered what appeared to be a laser beam coming from this system which may or may not carry some kind of signal. The system is 20 light years away so if it turns out someone actually sent a signal, it was sent only 20 years ago. What a find this would be!

I missed that laser beam part of the discover. Where is that at?

That happened a year or two ago which is probably why more astronomers pointed telescopes towards the Gliese system. Here's an article, but SETI's site probably has more info. Ragbir Bhathal is the scientist.

Isn't this how 'Contact' played out? The country was in turmoil and suddenly, a signal from space was received and everything was OK after that.
