Yamaha IR Receiver?

Searched but couldn't find the answer...

In the manual for my Yamaha RX-V1500 it mentions the use of an IR receiver, plugging into the remote in's on the back of the 1500, and then even beig able to repeat those signals out through an IR transmitter.

The trouble is they don't mention part numbers, and I'd rather use the Yamaha stuff than get a standalone IR extender system...

Any idea where to get this? I imagine if I looked in the box for the 1500 there would be a parts list for accessories, but I'm 3500km from home and will be for a while! lol

Um, I think things like those are meant for "stand alone" systems... right?

For instance, an RF remote system, where the blaster has a wire going to that IR in. This way there is no need for a stick on emitter.

On page 81 of the PDF (shown at page 77 in the manual) they mention an "infrared signal receiver" going to the remote ins, and an "infrared emitter" connected to the remote out. I just want to get those units.

I'll put an IR receiver in my zone 2 and zone 3, and put the emitter next to one of the surround speakers aimed at all the equipment (should be the least intrusive this way).

I'm just wondering how I can get ahold of these, I'm assuming Yamaha makes them!?!

As far as I know Yamaha does not make anything like that. The IR input/repeater is meant for use with RF remote systems and IR repeaters of any brand. There is no need to match brands. I use the IR in/out on my 2700 with my URC MRF-350 to add a port. I was already using all six ports on my MRF-350 when I added my Xbox 360. I was able to use the IR passthrough on the 2700 to add the 360 without problems.

Thanks, Hi Ho. I spent about 30 minutes trying to track down Yamaha parts for that and came up short. It's good to get some "confirmation" that they aren't out there, as well as finding out what you are using.

I too was browsing all over the internet and yamaha's site and manuals about the IR-out part numbers, or setup.

Finally, I just bought an infrared LED emitter and a MONO jack from the local electronic parts store, and ... VOILA, it works.

You can even attach more than one LED to that same cable.

By the way, the total cost for the components (LED + jack) was less than 1 USD

Two years too late but right on time for me! lol I actually haven't done anything with this yet, so now I know what to do... I need them in a few rooms so will string a wire around the house and buy a few IR LEDs then... which pole is negative? (considering LEDs by definition will only allow current to pass in one direction)

Edit: wait a second, I was looking for an IR receiver! Need to control my AVR in living room from basement and shop... Wonder if Sayal electronics has a generic IR receiver...

Does anoyone knows how to make cheaper, home-made Yamaha IR receiver?

I`m going to control my RX-797 Yamaha amplituner from basment (future Zone2 ).

Kitus mensioned that IR-diode works as a emmiter without special operations.
Maybe ir-receiver diode would solve my problem...

It's not a terribly expensive project.
The most troublesome aspect would be running the wire to zone two.

Add a cheap programmable remote, and you should be good to go.

Kitus, do you have a schematic? Did you use an emitter on remote-out or receiver on remote-IN? I'm trying to get remote-in to work, but it doesn't want to, unfortunately.
