Morning,
When I choose "small" for my mains my A/V receiver forces me to choose a Xover setting, I would rather use the built in one on muy sub. Having said that, I assume that when I choose say 80 hz on the AV then Ishould set the sub x-over at what? I suppose I shopuld set it all the way up, to the highest setting?
Thanks all.

providing a little more info on your gear would be helpful. Typically newer subs with a dedicate .lfe, will bypass the subs crossover (you would need to use the L?R inputs on the sub to use the internal)for the AVRs. And most people prefer the AVRs crossover for the room correction benefits.

Yes, this is correct. If you set it in the receiver, you would set it to its highest point or if the sub has a bypass option, use that. If you want to set it with the sub, you have to set some or all of your speakers to large. Letting the receiver handle this is usually the better option as it applies the appropriate slopes to both the sub and mains, while if you set them to large, no slope is applied. The only time you would need to use the one on the sub is if you have any speakers set to large.

Sub x-over

I have a RX-DP9VBK JVC A/V receiver and a KSW10 Klipsch Sub. My mains are Klipsch RF 62's. From what I have beeen able to determine I indeed should set the subs crossover on the sub as high as it will go, If the AV's crossover is engaged.
P.S : Setting the speakers to small made a world of difference.
Thanks alot everybody for your help.
