the reason i asked is that the Jl 8w7 is a 3 ohm sub i believe...most plate amps are not 3 ohm stable so you might want to nail down the amplifier before spending the 8 bills on a pair of 8w7's. You can do a single plate amp and wire the subs in series...but if you do that you will want a huge plate amp. 1000wats maybe at 8ohm.

Not trying to steer you away from the 8w7...but i am concerned that it is going to be a little tricky to be able to drive 2 of them to there fullest potential in a HT environment.
Thanks for the heads up... After reading the OAudio specs closely they state that loads under 4 ohms can damage the amp. I'll figure in a location for a Behringer EP2000.... don't know if it's the worlds greatest amp but it is within my budget

That is why I suggested a pro amp. In fact though if you look at the impedance curve of the driver vented, you will see that in the operating pass band the impedance is above four ohms at all times and most of the time well above four ohms.

So I think the O audio would drive it fine, however since Znorm for that driver is rated at 3 ohms you might have a warranty problem.

I'll sort out a space for it... I'd rather be safe than sorry, I was thinking with the plate amps they would be out of the way on the back of the sub but in the long run I'll be more satisfied with the pro amp I'm sure. Now the fun part, telling the wife that another piece of electronics will be in the entertainment center :D

Thoughts on the Behringer EP2000?

Thanks,
Gary

the berringer is nice...but sometimes pro amps don't do well with the output they are fed from the AVR. I had a crown XTI 2000 which should have pounded by 15" TC sound sub...but it never did. I replaced the crown with the eD 1300 plate amp and it was night and day...the plate amp played MUCH better with my AVR and now my 2 12" SV12 subs.
