I see there are now a lot of dual Darlington devices now. Even though IC they have high current capability.

I suspect this new generation of devices, is why this topography is becoming all the rage again.
I doubt that this is the "new generation of devices". If anything is for certain Onkyo is only interested in this topology because it increases the effective measured power output from the receivers that utilize the design. It's major shortcoming is the heat dissipation factor that most people are surprised at even after they've been informed that these receivers in particular run very hot. As with virtually any market there will always be products that try to squeeze specific features or flaunt the best specifications in their respective market in their price range. As with many products that offer impressive specifications and performance that goes against what the price would indicate, they make sacrifices to achieve said performance.

You do meed six transistors to make a triple Darlington output stage, but if you use two doubles and to singles you can do it with four devices.
I think you may need a nap, I can't make heads or tails of this. Two doubles and two singles comes to a total of 6 by my count, not 4 as you can concluded.

Yup -- this one's a killer! This is the Integra companion to the Onkyo multichannel power amp that I read up on some months back...gorgeous, solid, all-business looks and somewhat promising specs seem to be giving enthusiasts of this brand what they've been fantasizing about -- a standalone multichannel power amp from Onkyo which can be an alternative to one of their higher-powered AVRs...

I only wish I could afford one, along with their pro-line processor...:(

Im wondering if anyone actually purchased this amplifier back in 2010-2011 and still has it running? How long did it last?
