2 subs.... different tuning points

I am going to make a second subwoofer to go with my Kappa VQ 12" that is so popular on this site. I was wondering since the Kappa is tuned around 20hz should I tune the other subwoofer higher for music or just stick with a 20hz tune?

It is quite important that you not only tune the other sub to the same frequency, but that you also use the same driver as well. Much has been covered on this subject and I suggest that you do some searching on the site to discover all of the "whys" involved.

The only problem... its hard to find the infinity kappa 12vq these days. What if i used the same cabinet with a shiva x? I am guessing when 2 different subs are used it must cancel out the bass at some frequencies?

Is it tuned to ~20Hz or is the F3 ~20 Hz? These are two different things and it's more likely that the F3 is ~20Hz.

I agree- you'll have better results if you use the same driver and make the same box for it.

So what do I do about a second sub if I can't find the Kappa perfect?
