I don't know why, but for some reason I'm not super excited for this Satriani release based on that song... for some reason the song doesn't click with me, though it definitely has his characteristics. I will buy the album when it's released though.

I'm kind of new to Satriani but Jeff hooked me up with this when I went up there.
He's going to be my new best friend for a while. :)

The Wiki page on him revealed that he's in Chickenfoot.
Jamie has mentioned them several times but I never knew who all was in the group.

From what I've read this album will be a little different because of the Chickenfoot influence and the death of his mother. I guess it's going to be more reserved and that's cool with me if it is. I have all of his CD's and multiple DVD concerts of Him and G3 so I like the variety.

I had a Chickenfoot thread that pretty much got panned...:D

Satch is not like most other "shredders". He has a musicality about him that just amazes me and the constant flow of new music is astounding. I've been a fan since Surfing with the Alien which is a top ten must have album IMO.

I also love Jeff Campitelli. (his drummer) I think they are a pairing that just works beautifully.

I prefer the live version of Surfing with the Alien off the Time Machine release. Of course, that also has Big Bad Moon.

I agree that Joe and his drummer synch up really well together. The total is greater than the sum of the parts.

Great song! Definitely going to get this album. I've seen Satch live three times, one of which was a meet & greet where he signed my copy of Surfing with the Alien.

He's been around for quite awhile and has a bunch of CD's. He has a lot of influences and it shows in his playing. His endless flow of musical creativity never fails to amaze me.

After hearing the podcasts, I was a little more excited for the album and it has great songs on it - picked it up after work today. Kind of like the Joe Satriani and Is there Love in Space albums...very nice variety and intensities. Satriani's varying influences and music output is what draws me to him...he might not be as crazy technically (or mentally, lol) as Paul Gilbert or tonality focused as Eric Johnson, but he has a great composition and melodic sense in his music that works brilliantly. There's truely only one released song of his that I don;t like and that's Woodstock Jam...which is really a jam session. Probably my favorite Satriani album is Engines of Creation.

I recently saw a video in which Joe tells about himself and his influences in life and music, was pretty interesting with a few things I hadn't previously known... It's broken into 11 clips, heres the first:

I'm jealous.....Enjoy the show and let us know how you liked it.
Late response...

I loved the show! It was different though. The crowd was really laid back...I mean sit back and soak it up laid back. I enjoyed that atmosphere though.:) I went to G3 at the same venue and it was a very upbeat crowd. So I've seen him in both environments and thoroughly enjoyed both.
