After you complete the process make sure to keep and properly store the original film rolls. Those are the best protection against loosing those moments.

In 50 years will people still be able to play the dvd's or have the correct version of Windows or MacOS to read the hard drive? With film someone will always be able to see it if they just flash a light though it.

Thx, well I'm an IT consultant being paranoid about backups.... so I'm gonna make sure I have many copies,, originals and digital masters :p ... perhaps a copy in a Swiss bank vault, and more.... these are treasures to me ... Think about what Quwait national central bank did before they were invaded by Iraq, they sent backup to 5 different countries, so the central bank was up and running 2 days after country being invaded.

well , of course..... safekeeping of the original super 8 master masters :D

YES we have to be paranoid about backup's of these things, harddisks crash sometimes !

I had to learn the hard way. I had 3 backups of all my data. One on the HD on the computer, one on burned dvds, and external HD backup. Only thing was they were all inside my house.

Then Ike came along and everything is now out in the Gulf of Mexico

Now my sister's house is my offsite backup just in case.
