I am considering buying a XPA-2 from Emotiva soon.
I am using a Denon 2309 AVR right now.
Can I integrate a XPA=2 with it or should I go for separate PRE...
UMC-1 is right now out of budget /new purchase.

I could be mistaken, but I believe your current receiver does not have the necessary preamp outputs. (Check it to be sure.)
If you decide to buy something else to use with a separate amplifier, typically, it is more cost effective to buy a receiver with preamp outputs than to buy a preamp.
Also, why is it that you want to buy an external amplifier? Does your system not play loud enough now?
