MFW-15 Subwoofer for trade

I have a mint condition AV123 MFW-15 in the Moho Diamond finish. Since I live in CO, I was able to go up to AV123 and hand pick out my finish, and it was the best of a large lot. Very nice grain showing. I also have an extra V2 amp in case anything goes wrong with the original (which at this point, it is flawless.

I recognize that AV123 is now out of business, but that is not the reason for my trade. I have moved and now have a dedicated theater, and everything is going black. Rather than cover up this awesome finish with some velvet or painting it, I would rather trade it for something black.

I am open to trade offers, with my preference being someone with a black mfw that just wants a nicer finish, but would be open to good quality offers of other brands of subs as well. I am not looking to take a huge step back, so lets say something of the SVS PB10 or better quality (I am also open to a cylinder) or other brands

Thanks
Greg

Pictures would go a long way to making this look less scam like. :)

Does it really come accross that way? I will try to take some pictures tonight. Thanks for the advice.
Its just a strange proposal.....most people (including myself) would think, "why not just sell it and buy something else?".

Yeah, I can see that. I did think about selling it, but I am not at all dissatisfied with the sub. I really like it, and it is problem free, so I am not desperate to get rid of it. I am guessing that if I sell it, I would not get a premium for it, and have to then be on the hunt for something in good quality used. I figured maybe there was someone out there that wanted a different finish MFW other than black, which is the one I want, and we could both benefit.

I know Greg (though I haven't seen him since he moved). I can vouch for him. I am going to say: not a scam :)

Yeah you just figure $150 will exchange just to ship both ways.....Seems like a lot of effort and $.

It's going to be a tough sell/swap. I believe you that it's 100% perfect, but it's just going to be a tough item to move. Even though you don't want to, you may get more value by just painting it black.

Wow, I had no idea it would be this much to ship it, since I originally just picked it up. You are right, it is probably not worth the effort

I get 25% :)
What's the point of a secret under the table deal if you go and tell everyone :D

I might wind up doing that. It is a dedicated theater and looks aren't that important, although if I really screw it up and it looks hidious, I would be upset. Right now, I have some old velvet that I used to make my screen border, draped over the sub to take it out of view. I might just stick with that.

I wouldn't paint that nice Moho. Maybe just have someone (the significant other?) cut a pattern for the shape with the velvet, like a couch cover, so it fits nice and be done with it.

I hear ya...I am sure I will do just that. In my small, dedicated sealed room (only about 1450 cubic feet), the MFW is flat down to 17hz, with no stress put on it. Since I have the backup amp, I am sure I will just stick with what I have and ride it out for now.

Get some vinyl and cover it. It should be easy to remove and you can even end up choosing a different texture.

Personally, having a MFW-15 that is in perfect working condition is a blessing. If I had one, I would hold on to that sub.

Thanks for all of the feedback guys. I wound up selling it for a fair price. Now I am off to find a good black sub for $600-$700 at the most.

There is a sale at HSU. You could get a VTF2 for $509, my buddy has an MFW15 and I would say the performance difference is very similar with the MFW just comin gout ahead. IMO the HSU is more musical though, while the MFW has more impact down low.

Or you could get the VTF3 which would be on par or better than the MFW for $699. Its not on sale though.

Thanks for the advice. I am looking at those, as well as the SVS PB12 and possibly the ED A5-350 if I stretch my budget...although with the delay times and some amp problems I have briefly read from ED, I may just go with the safe bets...SVS or HSU

IMO if you go with the VTF2 you would have room in the budget for an EQ. Like an SMS-1, or a Behringer 2496. In my experience every room needs the LFE channel to be EQ'd to sound its best.
