Now the only thing that stands out in my mind here is the on board amp, which would in my opinion would possibly be the only limiting factor... Only one way to overcome a sealed box is with huge excursion and brute force for high output. And a motor design to keep it clean.

I agree with you on this -- it's still too soon to tell -- but they are clearly making a big swipe at the JL and I assume the F113 with the SB13 and I don't see how a smaller box and an amp with nearly half the amount of power could over come the restraints of a sealed design or compare. Again only time will tell -- and no doubt that SVS designs some fantastic and capable drivers..

So yet another weeks goes by with no info:( -- I'm starting to think it's time to pull the trigger on the ULS-15 sale right now -- as there seems to be no end in sight for the wait on the pricing (which already seems too high) and the pre-order availability of these new models...

hey chopin guy, I also have an elite, (sc27), with paradigm studio 100's. I'm trying to configure the settings...check this out and let me know what you think...before I do an MCACC, I set the gain 1/2 way on pb13-ultra, phase to 0, x-over to off, set it to 20Hz, then I ran the MCACC! It set my speakers to 'small', so my sub can do allthe work, which is fine! BUT, now the speakers sound not as strong like before...the sub is great but the whole setup sounds...so so! any suggestions? how did you callibrated

Gatomalo,

The Pioneer in my signature line is a display -- I have a Denon 3808ci for an AVR. Your SC-27 is a good AVR but I'm not sure how much I can help you has I am not that familiar with the Pioneer AVRs. I do believe reading somewhere that the auto set-up on those leaves something to be desired compared with Audyssey equiped brands like Onkyo, Denon, etc...

I would recheck your settings manually (as the auto set-ups can sometimes have the effect your noticing) and also using a test disk and SPL meter to properly calibrate and level match your system might help as well...Sorry I cannot be of more help...

There is finally some more information from over the weekend on the subs -- actually units shipping seems to still be a couple months out and it seems like they have moved everything overseas for this batch of products which is a bit of a let down....

Have a look:

" It took years of searching but SVS directly contracted production space with high-end Taiwan and mainland China partners which exceed the precision and even more critically, the production capacity of our own headquarters. And as we made ourselves comfortable with their capabilities, demand was already growing.

While our best cabinets have long come from Asia, and nearly all driver parts, for any kind of supply line we still insist on our staff training, production monitoring and SVS QC. We're doing what was done in Ohio, on a global scale.

Pity the other brands. This is how SVS is not only beating the competition, but improving our own legendary durability and quality at the same time. In fact, our first permanent SVS staff now in Asia means continuous innovation and improvement happens even more quickly than before. "

OBTW and we also forgot to mention the whole $ thing and how our margins will be affected.

Great idea, until the knockoffs start showing up. I'm wondering how long it'll take them to rip the designs and copycat just like everything else that ends up over there for manufacture. Amazing how we keep handing over our technologies to those thieves.

For the $$$$

I just purchased an eD A7s-450 w/ an eQ.2 equalizer. I must admit that as impressed I am with SVS's product performance, I am interested to see how the SB16 ultra will perform. I just don't know if going north of $2500 is gonna be the answer to Epik Empire or the eDA7s-450, with both hitting at under $1k shipped.

The only way to solve this dilemma....sub test!!!!! :D

Looks like the SB13-Plus will be coming to pre-order this week according to the statement. There is lots of other information regarding the other sealed models and their speaker lines...

Saw that this morning, can't want for these to come out and get reviewed, expecially the SB16 Ultra.

Saw that as well, though I didn't really get anything more from it other then "were still working on these". Are we still looking at $4k for the 16" at this point. Seems a bit high IMO considering what's avail at that pricepoint. They sure look nice though.

For $4k it better have way better performance than the PB13 Ultra, and I doubt it will.

Recently a hi-fi exhibition in taiwan we had a chance to acquire some info about the new SB series and 7 ch Icepower amp.. etc. You could get a glimpse at the 7ch amp and the sb13 plus here: audionet.com.tw/doc/view/sn/2954 (please add www in front ..can't post link since I'm fresh)

It's said that the new sb13 is going to ship very soon after some minor issues are attended to. The 7ch amp was demo'ed on site and it sounded pretty nice. New sledge amp module replacing the old bash amp was displayed on site and was said to be equipped on the the future lines including SB16 ultra. Ron confirmed that the SB16 MSRP will be close to 4k, with (more or less) 2kW of power and it won't appear before next spring or summer. I raised a question about possible inclusion of dual driver design for future SVS subs, he hinted yes but that would have to wait until these SB subs are out and then it would be the highest priced SVS subs ever.

That's DIY, I'm talking about a commercial sub.
I understand this, but seriously - look what I am getting for the same price...
a single 16 vs dual 18's.... DIY is not really all that difficult, I didn't even build my own boxes this time.. I'm just comparing dollar tags here.

I'm just a bit surprised at where SVS is going with this pricing...

Can't say they don't deserve to make a buck, and they make a great product but they are moving out of the value arena for sure with these new sealed subs.. Where is that going to put the price on a Dual Opposed they were hinting at..... ?
