I have a Fantec media player connected to TV with a HDMI cable.
Fantec is also connected to Denon with a coaxial (upper DVD slot).
Denon is connected to the TV with an optical cable.

Through Denon I can only hear the sound coming from the TV. If I turn off the TV, I don't hear the sound coming form Fantec media player (music).

Where am I wrong?

Thanks!

You need to use the setup menu to assign all of the inputs. It's in the 'Manual Setup' area.

TV's don't generally "pass through" audio via their digital link. They only send out audio that originates from within the TV.

To do that you'll need to use the red/white analog audio from the TV to the Denon but it'll only be stereo. That, TV's WILLl "pass through".

For MC sound from the Fantek, you'll need to run an audio link directly from the Fantek to the Denon.

With that in mind, recheck your input setup.
