I lucked out and grabbed one from Amazon earlier this week when it was at the same price, it's since gone back up to $649.

Glocks, seeing how the 1900 is very similar to the 1800, what do you think of the 1800's performance from a two channel perspective? -TD

When I use my 1800 in 2 ch. mode it works great, but I'm also using an external amp to power my speakers. But my friend has a 1900 and it works very well also, they are pretty much the same receiver except the 1900 has a few extra features.

My 1800 does double duty for HT and 2 channel. It excels in both areas drivin my spekaers to uncomfortably loud volumes without hint of strain or compression.

Good stuff

Thanks for the input, guys.

I'm looking to supplant my Emotiva MMC-1 w/the RX-1900 shortly and will be driving it w/my UPA-7 amp, so just using the 1900 as a pre/pro, similar to the same configuration I had set up before the MMC-1 with an RX-V2500. My VR3s have a 93dB sensitivity rating, so it doesn't take much to drive them, but I will likely never be w/out external amplication ever again, I'm just hooked on having it even w/built-in amps... :)

I was very pleased with the performance of my 2500 and it held it's value pretty well, the only noticable difference between it and the MMC-1 was the increased level from the pre-outs and the two channel performance was improved.

My hope is I can regain some of the newer functionality and configurations the 1900 offers and come close to the two channel performance of the MMC-1 for a couple of years until Emotiva (hopefully) comes out with their XMC-1 pre/pro so I can take advantage of the 40% off and (again, hopefully) miss the early adopter pain that many of the UMC buyers are going through.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled "Deals, Deals, DEALS!" thread... :D -TD

is $50 off $650 really a "hot" deal?
Considering the MSRP for this unit is $1,400 and it hasn't dropped below $700 until just recently, I'd say $600 is a pretty substantial deal... -TD

Same for me. I have no complaints about my 1800. And, that is an excellent price!

looks like it's $579 now... stll shipped free.

At this price thought, I think the onkyo 807 is a better deal. Its $599 at accessories4less. It has a network input and 2 subwoofer outs. Yamaya doesn't have any of these.

Get a $2 splitter and you have dual sub outputs... and networking on receivers isn't all that great... I'd still take the Yammy over the Onkyo.

I am actually starting to seriously consider this yamaha model. It does have HD radio built in, lots of power at this price point, and would probably go well with my Polk Monitor setup.

why would you take the yammy over the onki? just curious...

Oknyo receivers run really hot, has spotty customer service from what I've read here, and I've owned the Yamaha RX-V1600, RX-V1800, and RX-V663, and have helped my friend setup his RX-V1900, and they are fantastic receivers, and the higher end models are very nice and have lots of power, plus I like they way they look over the Onkyo models, plus when setting them up with a HTPC you don't need to worry about using an EDID override like you do with Onkyo and Denon receivers. I'm not an Onkyo hater though, my folks had an old Onkyo component system which I now have the amp from that system, and it still works and looks great, it's currently being used in my bedroom system to power my fronts.
