I stopped at my local 6th Ave electronics just for the hell of it to listen to some speakers. Im also considering something from Aperion and will be checking out some other speakers this weekend.

Right now im running Polk rm6600 sats with a polk psw350 sub and a yamaha RX-V596 receiver and want a serious upgrade.

I have a denon 2310 ci I purchased that i will be adding speakers too shortly.

The Def Tech setup consisted of

BP7006 Mains
CLR2002 Center
BP2X Surrounds
Supercube II Subwoofer

They can do the system for Just over $2100

Although i loved pretty much everything about it and its the way i would want to set up my home theater speakers im wondering if it is overkill for my living room. I mainly play video games and watch movies. I want a system that ill be able to really crank up if im in the mood.

Room is 13.5 x 14 feet with 8 foot ceilings. Hardwood floors. TV is about 12 feet from the couch.

Why aRe you confused? It's not a huge room and I amtryingto ge. Some advice or opinions as to whether I need to spend that kind of money to get a nice sounding system. Do I really need bipole surrounds and floor atanders with a built in sub?

DT's are awesome speakers when properly set up and calibrated and the proper crossovers assigned. No such thing as overkill, better to have more than less. I have a fairly small great room and have the 7001s, LCR2002, SM450s and gems along with two prosubs and a SVS sub. Overkill what's that?

Hola termin8ted-

I would imagine such a system would get plenty loud in that smallish room.

Be sure to consider how much real estate you can devote to your mains, as the bipolars like plenty of breathing room. I've got mine 30" from the back wall, and find anything closer than two feet or so adversely affects the image. If you room can accomodate the placement restrictions of the bipoles, you should be quite happy with that system.

The only part I would advise looking into further would be sub options. The DT's are pretty pricey IIRC, and you may be able to get two simpler subs which realistically would perform better overall, perhaps at less cost.

I have to look into the fronts I may not have 2 feet to move them out. I have plenty of room on the sides i know that. Just not behind them.

The Surrounds are going to have to be on the wall as i dont have the space to put them anywhere else with the way the room is.
I was thinking of looking into a different sub.
