yeah, we have a few vacuums at the house and the dyson is by far my favorite :) other vacuums are a kirby and a hoover (i think). the kirby is nice but bags are annoying and expensive, plus the cord is ridiculously short.

I'd never heard of Kirby until a girl came selling them door to door about a year ago. I didn't know they still had door to door vacuum cleaner salesmen. She spent about 2 hours at our house with my wife vacuuming up stuff. I liked it, it was just WAY too expensive. Plus the sales girl was SMOKIN' hot. I didn't want her to leave. :D

Just think of how much fun you can have for just $300 per unit.

Rainbow and Kirby sweepers are built significantly better, however Kirbys weigh a ton. I've always been a big fan of the Rainbow vacuum cleaners.
What's you point? Rainbow cost x10-20 times of Dyson.
I got my DC24 Dyson (light weight one) refub off Woot at 2/3 of original price with factory warranty.
I doesn't require ANY replaceable parts - neither bags or filters.
A LOT of other vacuum cleaners on the market need frequent replacement of ether or both and it's nothing but clever scheme to grab more money from you overtime eventually Dyson will most likely pay for itself.

All vacuums need maintenance including Dyson's and all vacuums can break down including Dyson's.

I love my dirt devil...it works fine. My only bone of contention is cleaning out the filter and having to replace once a year. Fwiw we shampoo(steam cleaned) the carpet twice a year....just to ensure the carpets are clean.

Dyson Animal

We have had a Dyson Animal unit for 10 years, The best vacuum hands down. We had a demo of the TOTL Kirby with all the attachments (lots of loose hardware) and a huge price tag. Impressive, yes as to the PU power. We decided to try the Dyson at substantially less cost, no bags and a cinch to empty and clean. This thing beat the Kirby hands down.

I have replaced the HEPA filter once. Easy to disassemble with no tools and using a quarter to open the floor brush skid plate to remove the typical threads around the brush.

I have yet to encounter anyone in real life that does not love Dyson. Check out the HGTV website forums as they frequently ask about fave vacuums. Dyson is the hands down fave every time.

Thanks for link, however I'd rather wash the filter, than buy a new one every two-three months - every other vacuums I used before I had to do pretty frequently. Does the filter water wash is equivalent to new Hepa filter ? I imagine the answer is no, but I never notices any extra dust in the air after using it, unlike some older vacuums I had before....
Does Dyson break - hell yea, I got my refub - I have no illusions about it - it probably got broke before - and If it goes for 4-5 years without AND service shop maintenance - What else could you ask from $300-400 small appliance ?

Bottom like - These vacuums made pretty well, not to industrial specs, but easily surpassing anything in their price range
