Wondering if I should buy this sub for around $300, or can anyone suggest a better sub for $350?

Can someone explain how I go about hooking up a sub to my comp, my speakers right now are hooked up to the headphone jack.
Thanks

I would talk to SVS and see if they have any "B- Stock" NSD-10 subs, you could probably get those for about 400.00 and they would hands down blow way the Polk sub.

Many sound cards have a subwoofer out. It's usually but not always combined with the center. Assuming have a sub out then you just need a $5 stereo to mono Y splitter.

Has anyone tried out the Polk sub woofers, the SVS subs are out of my price range :(

Some cheaper subs I'd recommend are the PA-120, Bic Acoustech H-100 (if they are still available) or two of the Dayton Sub120.

I have the PA-120 which I just swapped out for something quiet a bit bigger. The ED sub will be very nice. Actually, I need to put my PA up for sale. If you're local to NYC, you could have my sub for $150. You won't get better bang for your buck.

Could you give me an estimate on the minimum I should spend on a 5.1 system if I bought the Epik Legend sub woofer? With a receiver

I don't think there is a "right" answer but I think if you shop wisely $1500 should get you a decent receiver and 5.0 set of speakers.

Maybe something like this (minus the sub).

There is of course cheaper/more expensive options.
